CHERYLGOLD: ARTISAN-MADE JEWELRY ONLINE STORE

Each piece is made individually with care.

After receiving a B.S. in Textile Science w/Communications from Oregon State University in 1982, Cheryl was accepted at Thundering Seas School for Gold and Silversmithing in Depoe Bay. She  feels very fortunate to have been trained in hand-fabrication techniques passed on by her Instructor, Delphine Lass Krielsheimer of New York. Del was a Juliard-trained opera singer and pianist, and served as a U.N Ambassador in the Middle East.  While there, she learned how to make her own tools using the most primitive jewelry-making techniques that have not changed for hundreds of years.  The jewelers saw, hammer, file, torch and leather burnishing tools are still the mainstays in her studio.  Cherylgold began as Cheryl & Company Goldsmiths in 1983, in Newport, Oregon, where her first account was The Wood Gallery.

There are many new time-saving and highly technical tools available to the modern goldsmith, but when the power goes out, she keeps working.  Cheryl even had a portable jewelry bench as a crewman aboard the 'Viking", while sailing from Newport to La Paz, and visited her nautical jewelry accounts along the way.

The nautical line features "Creatures of the Sea in Silver & Gold", and took her to coastal galleries from Maine to Florida, Alaska to California, Hawaii and Japan.

The crisp details achieved through hand-fabrication make her sea creatures unique.  Rubber molds were taken from the original handmade silver prototypes, then cast in the lost wax technique by her brother Mike Powell, then polished to a mirror finish inside and out. 40 years later, these pieces are still being worn today.

If you have a creature of the sea in gold or silver by Cheryl & Co. Goldsmiths, it is still under warranty;  I will repair or repolish your old treasure at no charge.  Thank you so much for helping me enjoy a creative and prosperous career!
